Tips To Beat The Heat For Your Maternity Session!

It's important to stay cool during your outdoor Maternity session. The state of Texas this year saw record heat indexes. We are no strangers to hot weather in Texas, however we had a summer filled with 100 degree days the entire summer. Not to mention the month of August saw 106 degrees the entire month. As your photographer, I will do my part to make sure to structure your shoot with weather and location in the fore front!

Stay Hydrated

The scorching sun can quickly drain your energy. Remember to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your outdoor shoot to stay refreshed and focused.

Dress Light

Opt for lightweight, breathable clothing that allows air to circulate and keeps you cool. Light-colored outfits can also help reflect the sun's rays and prevent overheating.

Seek Shade

Look for shaded areas or bring along a portable umbrella to provide some relief from the sun. Not only will it keep you cool, but it can also create interesting lighting effects for your photos.

Time it Right

Schedule your outdoor shoot during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late afternoon. This way, you can avoid the harsh midday sun and capture the beautiful golden hour light.

Use Sunscreen

Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by applying sunscreen with a high SPF. Don't forget to reapply regularly, especially if you'll be shooting for an extended period.

Stay Fresh

Bring along a small towel or hand fan to dab away sweat and keep yourself feeling fresh. You can also use a cooling spray or mist to instantly cool down and rejuvenate.

Plan for Breaks

Allow yourself and your photographer some breaks in shaded areas to rest, rehydrate, and cool down. This will help maintain everyone's energy levels and ensure the quality of your photos.
